Wanderer (2021)

I wrote ‘Wanderer’ to tell the story of the transformation I have gone through thus far in college. As a kid who had been in Catholic school for most of his life, interacting with new and different beliefs and opinions was challenging at first, but mind-expanding. I tried a lot of new things from different Christian groups to new musical techniques among other things, which at times made me lose my sense of having a God.

My piece begins happy with God (as I was when I entered college) and gets worse with more dissonance and techniques to tell the story. Finally in the last quarter of the piece, it shows life without God while the melody is inverted and, eventually, the main theme comes back with very mature and evolved to show how I have grown and the wisdom I have gained in my college years.
